2005/06 Mentorship Programme for SMEs
The Trade and Industry Department (TID) is going to launch the 2005/06 Mentorship Programme for SMEs again in early July. Since last year・s programme was proved successful and welcome by SMEs, the Association again participates as one of the supporting organizations this year. As quite a lot of mentee applicants indicated interest to have a mentor from our Association, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you, being our prominent members with invaluable experience and expertise in the industry, to participate as one of the mentors on The Hong Kong Exporters・ Association・s behalf for the betterment of Hong Kong.
The main role of a mentor is to listen to the problems, difficulties and solutions as perceived by his/her mentees, and to share his/her views on these matters with the mentees. He/She will aim to help his/her mentees build confidence, leadership, and entrepreneurship, and inspire them to be proactive and adaptive to changes. The programme is expected to start in early July 2005 and last for 9 months, during which the mentor and mentee will be expected to have at least 3 times face-to-face counseling. The TID will also organize some seminars and training on general business skills to the mentees. To be eligible to be mentors in this programme, mentors should preferably be individuals who have more than 10 years of business / management experience or similar seniority in their professions. They may also be retired persons who are able to provide valuable source of advice to the SME participants in running and expanding a business.
