Strategic Study on the Implications
of Compliance Issues to Hong Kong's Exporting Industries
In recent ten years, overseas buyers, especially those from the
U.S., Europe and Japan are increasingly demanding that Hong Kong
manufacturers and exporters observe compliance requirements. Such
compliance issues, becoming an important part of the sourcing equation,
can broadly fall under the following categories:-
1.
Working Conditions and Labour Rights
2. Respect to environment
3. Product safety, product standards and product certification
4. Government Trade Regulations
<Key
Issues of Compliance Standards>
With funding
from the Services Support Fund of the Industry Department of The
HKSAR Government, The Hong Kong Exporter's Association has conducted
the above Strategic Study. We are grateful to share this research
report with Hong Kong's manufacturing and exporting sector. The
report
1. explains the underlying principles of compliance issues as well
as the reasons for their existence;
2. highlights the relevant rules and guidelines on the various compliance
standards as required by overseas buyers;
3. describes how some prominent organizations advocate the compliance
issues;
4. discusses the future trend of relevant compliance issues;
5. tables suggestions for local exporters to tackle the compliance
issues; and
6. highlights how The Hong Kong Exporter's Association will address
the compliance issues.
